Wildlife Photographic Magazine started its journey atop MagCast in 2012.
Although naysayers told Founding Publisher Craig Orr the photography magazine space was too competitive with too many entrenched big names (like National Geographic) in the niche, he felt like he had something special to offer, and forged ahead anyway.
Craig's bent was to produce a super high quality digital photography magazine that put the emphasis on the doing part and not on the photographs themselves.
Whereas all of the incumbent wildlife photography magazines were centered around telling the stories about the animals and the locations, Craig wanted Wildlife Photographic to be about helping photographers learn how to take the photographs so they could achieve the same results as the pros.
As the magazine grew its revenue and its production became more than what one person could do, he found a talented editor in professional photographer Bill Gozansky.
From there, they began growing their staff to help put the magazine together.
And, all along the way, they found more and more professional photographers eager to have their work showcased in the publication.
In 2018 having reached his goals for the magazine, Craig sold the magazine to its current publisher who has continued to publish the magazine with MagCast and grow its circulation.
Here's a few words about Craig's journey.
Founded by a MagCaster with no prior experience in the photography market, but who identified an underserved niche.
Wildlife Photographic has become the leading magazine for wildlife photographers around the world. for over 10 years, it's featured the work of international award winning photographers, who are delighted to have their work showcased in such a beautiful magazine.
These are the same photographers whose images appear in major publications like National Geographic, and BBC World, supported by a legion of loyal subscribers, many for seven or more years.
The magazine was sold by the founding publisher in 2019, and has continued to expand its audience by utilizing the promotional tools built into MagCast and MagsFast.
